An adoption "happy"

Tonight we met with a great lady from our church named Jeannette-- who, with her husband, has adopted 2 children. She is an attorney and has a passion for adoption. They actually live less than a mile from us, too. She is on the PTA at the school Jack will attend. She shared a few "pointers" and just basically supported us. It was so encouraging to hear from someone who has been down this road (twice) and all of the ups and downs and knows without a doubt that their children were meant to be theirs! I'm so blessed by meeting someone like her!

I wish we hadn't put "all of our eggs in one basket" by signing with a specific agency. We've waited 15 months now, which when we signed was the average wait time. Adoption in general is very slow right now. Even at Lutheran Social Services (big adoption agency in MN), they have done less than half the number of adoptions in a year that they usually do. But even in this we know that God can still bring the right child to us through our agency, and we may try to network more, too. We still hold out hope for another child in our family someday.
