Fun Day (we needed one!)

Well, after the inconclusive MRI report last week, my Mom (master chauffeur) and I decided to get back on our feet, get out and do something fun! We went to the Como Zoo and Conservatory. Jack chose to go in the butterfly house instead of any rides. He just loved it! I love the Japanese Garden and Jack was mesmerized by the koi, and said loudly, "We should have brought our fishing rods!!" I saw several people snickering nearby. We got to see the polar bears (amazing), and the apes/monkeys. We started with lunch at White Castle! Woo hoo! Jack even had several bites of a "slider" to tell Dad he did it.

Polar Bear pacing-- I always think that is so sad that animals in captivity pace and develop other neurotic behaviors. This is a free zoo, and I totally disagree with that concept. Most people would be willing to pay some (more than the minimum "suggested" donation) to go here. They need to have better habitats. Both polar bears were pacing the whole time. The giraffes were licking the exterior of their building. We asked the staff, she said they do that to get extra minerals. :( Shouldn't that be in their food?
